Also see: Raw Versus Cooked Carbs (Plant Foods).
Caution: Fruit juices, except small amounts of lemons and limes, and juicing vegetables that are not on the candida diet are not okay for candida sufferers.
Ingredients & Tools
-
your choice of vegetables and/or fruits
-
food mill
-
pitcher or jar with a lid, to store the juice
Preparation
-
Cook the vegetable or fruit (or a combination), with the skins on (except for those that are coated with wax, like rutabaga), in water until their color and texture changes (color will be lighter and the texture will be very soft so it easily mashes up with a fork).
-
Allow them to cool.
-
Strain off the water and save it.
-
Mash up the remaining vegetables or fruits very well, and run them through a food mill placed over a bowl, in order to strain out more juice.
-
Add this juice to the saved cooking water and mix it well.
-
Keep it in a covered jar or pitcher in the refrigerator.
-
Juices can be drunk hot or cold, and "spiced" to improve the flavor - also see the very important Note!
Note: Vegetable or fruit juices should never be consumed alone. They must always be consumed with "good" fats to slow the release of sugars into the system. A mug of heated juice, with some unrefined coconut oil or butter melted and mixed into it is an excellent way to have them! You can also drink Nutrient-Rich Juices with meals that include "good" fats like butter, unrefined coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and other natural occurring animals fats.
