Turkey Roasted in a Brown Paper Bag

Submitted by Debra NW, who is a member of Bee's Candida Support Group, that you are welcome to join!

Years ago our family use to bake our Thanksgiving turkey in a brown paper bag and it always turned out moist and yummy. Here is a recipe if you would like to try it sometime.

Ingredients

  • 1 turkey
  • 1 large plain brown bag (with no printing on it)
  • butter or unrefined coconut oil
  • ocean sea salt
  • dry or fresh herbs, of your choice

All dried and ground herbs and spices must be organic or certified organic from the health store because all commercial products
are irradiated (zapped with radiation) which change and damage the body's cells if consumed.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the over to 325°F.
  2. Wash, drain and dry the turkey, and salt the cavity with ocean sea salt and herbs of your choice.
  3. If stuffing is desired try a variety of onions, vegetables, etc. and then truss the turkey for roasting.
  4. Butter or oil outside of turkey and sprinkle it with sea salt.
  5. Put the prepared turkey in the brown bag.
  6. Close the open end of bag with one or two folds and fasten it with metal paper clips or staple it.
  7. Put the turkey in the bag on a flat rack on top of a shallow pan, or use the broiler rack. Ensure the seam of the brown bag is up!
  8. Roast the turkey, allowing approximately 20 minutes per pound if it is unstuffed, and 25 minutes per pound if it is stuffed.
  9. Important! Once you have placed the turkey in the oven there is no need to open the oven door or peek into the bag until it is completely roasted.
  10. No, the bag will not burn! When turkey is done, puncture the bottom of bag to allow juices to drain into a pan and use this to make gravy. The turkey will be beautifully browned.
