Success Story by Kim, March 2005

Thrush (mouth) cleared up completely. Can eat more foods! Most candida symptoms are barely noticeable.

Most of my candida-related symptoms have diminished, some to a minimal level, some only occasional flare-ups. That in itself is reward enough!

But I've also learned a lot about nutrition and diet, and am so much healthier because of the dietary and lifestyle changes that I needed to make, partly because of my new gastric disorders, but mainly because of dealing with candida.

The most significant improvement in my candida–related symptoms is with my food allergies and intolerances. Like Bee, when I started there were only 10 foods I could eat without going into an allergic reaction. Now I can eat about 30 and I only have to rotate or severely limit about 10 vegetables. There are still some I can't tolerate at all; unfortunately most are the natural antifungals; and I have to really be careful with supplements.

I had/have a lot of the typical candida symptoms: thrush, burning eyes, sore throat, fluid in the ears, chapped lips, dryer-than-usual skin, vaginal discomfort and discharge, irritated bladder (interstitial cystitis), exhaustion.... My thrush has cleared up completely; everything else is barely noticeable except when I have to take antibiotics, or I try a food that is hard to digest for me. I just drop back to the stricter phase of the diet for a few days. It still feels like the candida overgrowth is just below the surface, waiting to flourish if the conditions change. So I know I'm not healed completely yet, but making good progress. Which keeps me going.
