Hi Bee,

I have been having an ongoing argument with a friend on whether I have candida or a food intolerance. I think I have both. He thinks I have a food intolerance and just been blaming it on the candida. He thinks if it were "truly" candida I would have been much sicker than I was.

Personally I don't care because it has fixed whatever was going on but because he is like Cliff Clavin and is irritating the crap out of me. I would love to hear anyone's two cents. It might help someone else on the list whose family thinks we are whacky, as well.

I was a heavy drinker, junk eater, dairy addict, and had more than my share of antibiotics over the past 15 years. After going on an anti-candida diet I felt so much better especially eliminating grains and alcohol. In fact I lost my craving for alcohol "period!"

After a year of following the diet 95% of the time, I was doing very well. I also went through about 6 months of hell where I now see it was a healing crisis and major detoxing. I have not been ill with anything since February which is a miracle in itself.

That is when I finally gave up my beloved dairy and feel the best I have in many many years. That's why I laugh to myself when I hear people crying about not being able to eat fruit on this list. That doesn't even enter in my mind but I haven't met a cheese I didn't like and I wasn't going to give that up easily. But when I did, it made a huge difference in my health.

Now if I go off and eat something I shouldn't I feel bad for about a day and than I am back on track and feel good again. Even dairy, if it is just one meal or one day. That wasn't the case awhile back and one little slip would kick my candida (or whatever) etc. up for days and days. Yes! Do I think candida is a part of it? Yes, as I no longer have a lot of symptoms associated with candida.
